The Cookware Company has acquired Lumenflon, an Italian manufacturer of aluminum nonstick cookware.

The Cookware Company CEO Wim de Veirman said the Lumenflon acquisition follows the successful integration by The Cookware Company in 2018 of Dutch brands, including BK, Koninklijke Van Kempen & Begeer, Gero & Keltum, and in 2019 of Germany’s Merten and Storck. “By adding cast aluminum to our portfolio, we will develop this category as part of our already expanding housewares portfolio,” De Veirman said.

The Cookware Company Chairman Jan Helskens added, “It’s long been our ambition to launch some new, innovative Italian brands. All over the world, ‘Made in Europe’ is regarded as a sign of quality, especially for consumers with high aspirations towards healthier lifestyles, greater social responsibility and becoming more eco-friendly. All this makes Lumenflon a perfect fit with our Group.”

The Cookware Company reported it plans to produce cookware with its Thermolon ceramic nonstick at the Lumenflon facility in Italy to support the production of the PFAS-free cookware for the European market. Van Helskens stated, “In perfect synergy, the parallel establishment of Thermolon Italy S.p.A. also means local production of our healthy ceramic nonstick coatings where they are needed. As a result, we’re extremely proud of the fact that by 2023 the existing Lumenflon site will become the first totally PFAS-free cookware manufacturing facility in Europe – a significant first!”

De Veirman added, “Around the globe we see consumers and decision-makers being more and more conscious about the negative impact of PFAS (forever chemicals) on our health and the environment. We were the pioneers in producing ceramic nonstick cookware 15 years ago, and now with the acquisition of Lumenflon – we are showing our commitment to what sustainability really means: toxin-free cookware.”
