Escali has expanded its housewares offering beyond its core measurement products with the recent acquisition of European stovetop coffee brewer brand London Sip.
Escali, based in Burnsville, Minn., is a veteran developer and marketer of kitchen scales, cooking thermometers, kitchen timers, body scales and body thermometers.
The London Sip acquisition, highlighting the brand’s flagship stovetop espresso brewer, anchors Escali’s move into the surging coffee accessory business. Escali plans to launch a full line of coffee accessories under the London Sip brand, Escali COO Anthony Howard told HomePage News.
The London Sip stovetop espresso brewer — offered in 3-, 6- and 10-cup versions— features a sleek, tapered shape, stainless steel construction in a choice of stainless steel- and copper-colored finishes. A key, distinguishing attribute of the espresso maker is its functionality on all range tops, including gas, electric, ceramic and induction, said Kelly Walsh, Escali’s vice president, sales.
Escali plans to preview the London Sip espresso brewer, among several other new coffee accessories and measurement products, during the Inspired Home Show in Chicago.
Howard said Escali will showcase the London Sip branding on related products as the line expands. He said the company, in looking for a complement to its kitchen measurement products, identified an at-home coffee market whose growth was amplified during the pandemic. Escali was also attracted to the higher-end London Sip design and performance, he added.
Escali plans to add several London Sip-branded coffee accessories, including a stovetop kettle, a coffee measuring spoon, a carafe and a thermometer with multiple temperature markings for different hot beverages.

London Sip augments a core Escali measurement equipment business whose sales have grown 25% every year for the past decade, Walsh said. He said the kitchen scale and grill thermometer sales, for example, were supercharged by gains in home baking and outdoor cooking during the pandemic.
“We’ve always grown organically with new product development, and now we’re also looking for categories that are a natural fit, product that allow us to be a more diverse, responsive supplier for our customers,” Howard said.
Escali has supported its growth by expanding its product development and sales organization, Howard added.
Escali is launching several other products at The Inspired Home Show. These include kitchen scales, including a digital coffee scale with timer aimed at the pour-over coffee drinkers; and barbecue thermometers, including a folding model and a gun-style infrared unit.
