Dutch housewares designer and marketer Brabantia has acquired Lékué, a Barcelona, Spain-based developer and marketer of kitchenware, including specialty silicone products.
Lékué’s products are sold in 70 countries. The brand is available in the U.S. at retailers including Crate & Barrel and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Brabantia said it will look to expand Lékué’s position in Northern European markets. In turn, Brabantia will be able to use Lékué’s logistics hub in Southern Europe, enabling the company to accelerate its growth in France and Spain, according to the company.
Tijn van Elderen, CEO of Brabantia, said, “This is our second acquisition, and with this step we now have three strong brands that make life a little bit more beautiful, pleasurable and sustainable. The acquisition will also help us achieve our international growth objectives. Lékué offers beautiful food enjoyment products that complement Brabantia’s current range. The acquisition is part of our strategy to create an international brand platform in the middle and upper segment of the interior design and household products sector. And we intend to broaden that platform further in the future.”
Rafael Sebastián, CEO of Lékué, said, “Brabantia’s expertise in production and logistics and their strong relationships with dealers and distributors in the sector will help us operate even more effectively in the rest of the world. Brabantia’s drive to innovate has led to significant advances in design and sustainability. Those are also areas that Lékué prioritizes. So, there is a good fit between our strategies, and we have reached good agreements.”
