Dyson has debuted its first wearable technology in the U.S.: the Dyson Zone headphones designed to provide an immersive listening experience and on-the-go air purification.
The Dyson Zone headphones were engineered to face the challenges of city noise and air pollution. They can be worn both as headphones only or paired with the detachable air purification visor that sits in front of the wearer’s breathing zone.
According to the company, the Dyson Zone delivers:
- A scientific approach to audio engineering. The headphones are designed to deliver rich, immersive audio free from outside noise with advanced active noise canceling, low distortion and a neutral frequency response to replicate music or audio as intended. The headphones can run for up to 50 hours audio only or up to four hours in low-flow mode.
- High-efficiency filtration to handle air pollution on the go. Compressors in each ear draw air through dual-layer filters and project two streams of purified air to the wearer’s nose and mouth through the no-contact visor.
- Real-time feedback and controls in the MyDyson app. The app can be used to adjust airflow speed, switch between transparency and isolation listening modes, adapt equalization to preference and more. A sensor in the headphones monitors the air for NO2 levels alongside real-time environmental noise levels.
The headphones will be available beginning April 27 at Dyson.com, Dyson Demo Stores and BestBuy.com at a starting price of $949.
