BJ’s Preps First Michigan Club as Growth Plan Advances

BJ’s Warehouse Club keeps adding new stores as it builds business in the eastern United States, a region that, for the company, includes Lansing, MI.

The company has announced that its newest club, its first in Michigan, will open on Friday, January 28, offering merchandise and an on-site gas station.

“We’re excited to expand our footprint in Michigan, with the opening of our new club in Lansing,” said Nick Salowich, BJ’s Lansing club manager. “We’re looking forward to bringing BJ’s outstanding offerings to Lansing and the surrounding community. We can’t wait for our doors to open on Friday and serve our members and community in this New Year.”

Among recent moves, BJ’s Wholesale Club announced in December 2022 that the company was opening a new store in South Fayette Township, PA., near Pittsburgh, bringing the retailer’s total number of Pennsylvania locations to18.

The club opening followed that of an adjacent BJ’s fueling facility, which debuted on December 2, by about a week.

Beyond South Fayette, the BJ’s growth initiative lately included a new club in Commack, NY, its 12th on Long Island. The company also unveiled a new club in Port Charlotte, FL, its 34th in Florida. In total, BJ’s now operates 226 warehouse clubs and 157 fueling stations in the eastern United States.

In a third-quarter conference call, Bob Eddy, BJ’s president and CEO asserted that the company plans to open a second Pittsburgh area club this winter.
