Veteran Housewares Industry Leader Mark Buss Passes Away

Veteran houseware industry leader Mark Buss died recently after an illness. He was 68.

Buss, with more than 30 years of housewares sales and management experience, most recently was chief commercial officer for beverage carbonation product specialist Drinkmate. He led Drinkmate sales, marketing and product development efforts since joining the company in early 2024.

Buss previously held several housewares company leadership roles, including CEO of drinkware supplier Govino; president and general manager of the U.S. operation of Philips’ Saeco coffee appliance business; vice president of international for small appliance maker Hamilton Beach; and vice president of business development for ironing board maker Seymour Housewares.

He also advised several housewares companies through his MB Consulting practice. Buss served on the board of directors for small appliance and kitchenware company SharkNinja for several years, and he was a former member of the International Housewares Association board of directors. He served as chair of the board of trustees for the Virginia Museum of Natural History until his passing.

“Mark was a remarkable leader, a trusted colleague, and a dear friend. His vision, dedication, and integrity were instrumental in guiding Drinkmate during his time with the company,” said Douglas Wang, CEO of Drinkmate. “Mark brought heart and purpose to everything he did, and his passion inspired those around him every single day. We are heartbroken by his loss and extend our deepest sympathies to his family. He will be sincerely missed, both personally and professionally, and his legacy will continue to guide us in the years ahead.”
